Abstract

613,746. Lubricators. TAUSSIG, R. July 1, 1946, No. 19533. [Class 12 (iii)] An oil-resistant resilient disc or band with a short slit therein for entry of an oil-can spout is housed with clearance in a fitting screwed or push-fitted into a lubricator body or an oil hole leading to a bearing such as the oil hole of a cycle hub. As shown in Fig. 2, a synthetic rubber disc 8 is housed within a cap member 9 retained on a lubricator fitting 6 by an inset portion engaging a peripheral groove 7, the cap being of such depth to provide clearance with the disc 8 so that the latter can expand when an oil-can spout 10 is inserted through the short slit in the disc. As shown in Fig. 7, a synthetic rubber band 29 encircling a cycle-wheel hub 22 is mounted in a housing 24 held by a spigot portion 26 fitted in the oil-hole of the hub; the housing is of sufficient depth to give clearance to allow expansion when an oil-can spout is inserted in the short slit 27 provided in the band.
