Class 122(v) In a sealing device for a rotating shaft in which a non- rigid bush a helically grooved on a periphery is connected to a mounting c by an annular resilient web b, as desdescribed in the parent specification, the bush a is moulded on a periphery with a helical groove e extending between one end of the bush and a vent g and an oppositely directed helical groove f located between the other 'end of the bush and the vent. The outer end of the vent g is provided with a non-return valve h and the oppositely directed helical groove f is stopped at a point f<SP>1</SP> short of the end of the bush a.
