Abstract

659,570. Lubricating. DUROSE, H. V. Nov. 22, 1949, No. 29792. [Class 12 (iii)] A vehicle spring lubri. cator comprises a felt or other oil-absorbent pad 2 located within a channel-shaped rubber or synthetic rubber cover 7 which is held in place by an outer metal casing 8 incorporating a reservoir 3. The base of the reser voir 3 contains a hole 4 communicating with a hole 6 in the felt 2 througt which oil is fed to the felt. A ball valve 9 be comes displaced on move ment of the vehicle, and allows oil to pass through the hole 4. The flanges 7a of the channel-shaped rubber 7 extend around the edges of the felt 2 and contact the edges of the spring leaves. The outer metal casing 8 is in the form of a band which extends entirely around the leaf-spring and the ends, which meet below the leaf-spring, are secured together by folding one end 8b over the other 8a. The Provisional Specification describes a modification wherein the ball valve is replaced by a tapered needle valve.
