Abstract
391,574. Lubricating springs. WOODHEAD, G. A., The Grange, Old Park Road, Roundhay, and WOODHEAD & SONS, Ltd., J., Kirkstall Road, both in Leeds. Feb. 23,1932, No. 5326. [Class 12 (ii).] One or each of the intermediate plates a of a laminated spring is formed at or near its free end with either an integral nipple b, Figs. 1 and 6, or an open recess g, Figs. 2 and 11, said nipple or recess communicating, in some cases through a recess c, either with a longitudinal groove d in the plate or with the space d<1>, Fig. 11, present between adjacent plates due to their concave rolling and being adapted either for the reception of the head of a grease gun or for connection with a distant source of oil supply j, Fig. 2, by a tube i. Felt packing e, Figs. 1 and 5, may be disposed between the recess c and the end of the plate or within the recess, and a non-return ball valve f, Fig. 5, may be associated with the nipple. Lubricant may be supplied to one only of the plates and pass to the others in cascade, as shown in Fig. 2.
