Abstract

357,197. Pistons. WIDDOP & CO., Ltd., H. and WIDDOP, H., Invincible Works, Keighley, Yorkshire. May 10, 1930, No. 14413. [Class 122 (i).] To facilitate lubrication of the gudgeon pin, working pressure is distributed over its full length by utilizing the full diameter of piston as a bearing surface. The pin 3 is retained in a bush 6 between the halves a, b of the piston 2, and is bolted to the connecting-rod 4, a flat 3b being formed on its surface for this purpose. The bush 6 may be in halves, the upper half having flanges 6a to prevent movement, and the lower half being provided with a slot to accommodate the connecting-rod end. Lubricant is supplied to the bearing surface through a tube 4d in the pin 3. The piston may be in one piece, the space 2c and flanges 6a being dispensed with.
