Abstract
349,883. Lubricator couplings. TECALEMIT, Ltd., Great West Road, Brentford, Middlesex. Sept. 30, 1930, No. 29340. Convention date, Sept. 30, 1929. [Class 99 (i).] The nipple 1, Fig. 1, on a part to be lubricated is formed with an annular contact surface 9 presented toward but substantially spaced from the inlet 8 thereof, and the nozzle 25 on the end of the lubricator 13 terminates at its discharge end in a tubular portion the end 33 of which is engageable with the contact surface 9 when the said tubular portion is telescoped over the nipple. The nozzle 25 is pivotally secured on the ball end 46 of an intermediate member 14, which screws into the lubricator 13, by bending the inner end 45 thereof into contact with the surface of the end 46, as shown, after an annular cork &c. gasket 29 has been positioned between the two parts, and a spring 26 is disposed between flanges 16, 27 on the intermediate member and nozzle respectively to restrict movement of the said parts. Spring-pressed ball-valves 10, 19 are disposed within the bores of the nipple and intermediate member to prevent leakage therefrom. In a modification, Fig. 6, the outer end of the intermediate member is formed with a part-spherical surface 53 which coacts with a conical surface 59 in the nozzle 55, and the two parts are secured together by a helical spring 56 which engages helically grooved surfaces 31, 30 on the parts.
