Abstract

364,787. Lubricating pistons. BATES, H. N. and SPECIALLOID, Ltd., Friern- Park, North Finchley, London. Dec. 8, 1930, No. 36988. [Class 12 (ii).] A piston is provided with piston-ring grooves 1, and shallow grooves 2 for the circulation of 'oil which communicate with two shallow depressions on the exterior of the piston round the gudgeon-pin holes. The surface of each depression at its transverse edges 4 curves into the outer surface of the piston wall, or is formed by flat surfaces making obtuse angles therewith, to avoid sharp edges.
