Abstract
A photo-engraving plate or sheet consists of a magnesium base alloy in the form of a rolled sheet or plate having a uniformly level surface and containing 0.5 to 5 per cent Al, 0.5 to 2 per cent Zn, the sum of the percentages of Al and Zn being 1 to 6, 0.05 per cent to 0.15 per cent Mn, up to 0.15 per cent Ca, the sum of the percentages of Mn and Ca not exceeding 0.25, up to 0.005 per cent Fe, one metal selected from Be 0.001 to 0.05 per cent and Zr 0.01 to 0.03 per cent, the balance being Mg of at least 99.935 per cent purity. A specific alloy of the following analysis is referred to, Al 2.9 per cent, Be 0.002 per cent, Cd less than 0.01 per cent, Ca 0.12 per cent, Cu less than 0.001 per cent, Fe less than 0.001 per cent, Pb less than 0.001 per cent, Mn 0.07 per cent, Ni less than 0.001 per cent, Sn less than 0.001 per cent, Zn 0.97 per cent. Specification 13469/44, (as open to inspection under Sect. 91), is referred to.
