Abstract
A cathodic protection anode, suitable for the protection of ferrous pipes in earth, is made from an alloy having the following composition: Mn 0.50-1.3 per cent; Al not over 0.01 per cent; Sn not over 0.01 per cent; Pb not over 0.01 per cent; Fe 0.001-0.03 per cent; Ni not over 0.002 per cent; Mg at least 98.5 per cent. Up to 0.05 per cent of each of Cd, Cu, Ca, Si and Zn may be present. The amount of manganese is at least equal to 0.5+60 (per cent Al).
