Abstract

658,031. Stays for hinged articles. THOMPSON, W. A. April 29, 1949, No. 11495. [Class 65(i)] In a box-guided casement stay the boxguide 8 is adapted for limited movement axially of a holding member or pin 5 fixed in a mounting plate 1, and a spring 14 is provided to urge the box-guide on to the pin, whereby the latter is pressed against the stay bar 10. The spring is interposed between a washer 12 secured to the boxguide and a washer 13 secured to the pin. The portion of the pin below a shoulder 7 is of reduced diameter and is a sliding fit on the washer 12. The stay bar is provided with locking recesses 15 and is attached to the casement by means of a ball pivot 19. Upward movement of the stay bar for disengaging it from the pin is halted when the washer 12 makes contact with the shoulder 7. The bar serves to fasten the casement in the closed position by engaging notches formed in a pair. of upstanding lugs provided at one end of the mounting plate 1.
