Abstract

1,032,818. Window hinges. ELTREVA A.G. Sept. 18, 1964 [April 10, 1964], No. 38218/64. Heading E2F. A brake for vertical or horizontal centrehung windows comprises an external contracting brake shoe 2 acting on a pivotal journal 12 of the window casement and provided with a pair of adjacent actuating arms 3, 4, a spring 8 acting on the arms to contract the brake shoe and a cam 6 movable between the arms by a lever 18 to counteract the bias of the spring 8. As shown, the pivot pin 12 is supported on a ball bearing in a base plate 1 and the lever 18 is connected to a locking bar 20 carrying a pin for locking the window. The window is attached to a plate 17, a slot 16 in which is engaged with a key portion 15 of the pivot pin 12.
