In a lever handle for doors including a back plate 1 and articulated lever handle 3, the boss of the handle is associated with a cam member 5 and a co-acting spring-loaded slide block 6 in such a manner that in addition to normal downward arcuate motion to release an associated bolt, the lever handle is adapted to be moved through 180 degrees of the upper half of a circle for the lever handle to be adjusted to lie to either the right or the left of the back plate according to requirement. As shown, the slide 6 which normally bears on flat surfaces of the cam member 5, is loaded by springs 8 and is guided by rods 9 which project from a block 1A into bores 10 in the block, the arrangement limiting the normal downward movement of the handle while permitting the handle to be rotated in the reverse direction through 180 degrees if required. Upward movement of the handle from its adjusted position may be limited by means such as a grub screw.
