Abstract

1,237,941. Window stay; releasable fastenings. SASMO Ltd. 16 June, 1969 [27 June, 1968], No. 30641/68. Headings E2A and E2F. An adjustable window stay comprises a bolt, a slide block sliding on a portion of the bolt having a non-circular cross-section and pivoted to a window stay, and means to simultaneously rotate the bolt and move it longitudinally to friction lock the block and stay. When bolt 5, Fig. 1, is moved longitudinally via handle 13 against the bias of spring 9 pin 11 and groove 12 co-act to rotate the bolt which then ceases, Fig. 3, to stress leaf spring 24 and friction pad 27. This allows slide block 22 to slide within housing 8 about bolt 5, and hence allows the stay and window to pivot. Releasing handle 13 re-locks the stay. The positions of pin 11 and groove 12 may be reversed.
