Abstract

1331767 Latches DECALOCK Ltd 9 Oct 1970 [14 Oct 1969] 48054/70 Heading E2A A latch comprises a pair of handle mounting members 22, 23 bolted together and with portions 24, 25 extending into an opening in a door, handles 20, 21 pivot thereon on pivot pins 69, 70 a latch bolt 56 slidable in a passage in the door housing and sleeve 52 with a face plate 51, the latch bolt being urged outwardly by a spring 59 and having a slot 64 and a double chamfered web 67 engaging a cam surface 83 or 84 on a cam member 82 extending from a stem 42 on the handle 21 whereby pressing or pulling the handle 21 presses the cam surface against the chamfered surface of the web and withdraws the bolt, the handle 20 having a stem 41 with a pair of lateral projections 90 which engage in grooves 89 in a channel 86 of the member 82 whereby pivoting the handle 20 also withdraws the bolt. A spring 92 between the stem 42 and pivot pin 69 urges the cam member to inoperative position. The second cam surface allows the latch bolt to be reversible for use on the other edge of the door. The slot 64 allows axial movement of the cam member 82 in order that the latch may be used on doors of different thicknesses.
