Abstract

A window stay 1 which is suitable for either vertical or horizontal opening windows and which does not protrude into the room when the window is either open or closed has one end (5 as shown) received in a channel 4 on either the window or the frame. <IMAGE>

Description

WINDOW STAY This invention relates to a type of window eta suitable for either Vertical or Horizontal windows.
Window stays of the onne arm opening type used in the vast majoroty of winow casements have the disadventage of the stay protruding into the room whenever the window is opened to any degree.
With this present invention the stay end 1 as shown in Fig.1. and Fi.2. which would normally protrude into the room or overlap the sill, has a fixed swivel joint end 2 to the window frame3.
When the window is opened the stay end 5 attasched to the wondow slides in a fixed channel 4 to to whatever degree of window opening.
For a narrow frame window such as some metel types, the complete installation can be reversed as in drawing Fig 3. Whith parts 4 and 5 fitted to frame 3 and arm 1 leading to swivel joint @ opening the window.
It is claimed that this method has the advantage of not interfering with any article on window eill or im touching curtain drapes, Venetian or Vertical Einlings wirh the wondow open. Also stay operating away from any double glazing whether secondary or complete.
the stay 1 in the window closed position lends itself to anti-burglar locking device if desired.

Claims (6)

CLAIMS.
1. A Window Stay comprising of a single arm fitted to sill and operated outwards for window opening via a swivel joint to channel on window.
2. A Window Stay that does not protrude into tae roo fro the sill whether opening or closing the said window.
3. A Window Stay that is held by friction in its channel at any part or full window movement.
4. A Window Stay not needing screw, clamp or other manual operation for locking window in any position as in clalin 3.
5. A Window Stay that is suitable for security locking in the closed position.
6. A Window Stay suitable for type of window, hinged side, top or bottem that will operate as in claim2. Claim3.
