Abstract
1312231 Lockable casement stay R W PIDDINGTON 10 April 1970 [10 Jan 1969] 1512/ 69 Headings E2A and E2F Releasable locking means for controlling relative angular movement between first and second parts e.g. bars of a casement stay, comprises a body, a plunger working in a bore in the body and movable axially between an operative advanced position and an inoperative retracted position, a spring normally urging the plunger into the operative position and a key engageable with the plunger to urge the plunger into the inoperative position against the force in the spring, the key being retained in engagement with the plunger until the plunger is again moved into the operative position. In the Figure, slide assembly 14 pivotally mounted on a bar pivotally connected to a window frame, is slidably mounted on a bar 13 secured to a window. The lower end of a plunger 23 is normally received within an elongated slot 36 in bar 13. To open the window further, shank 50 of the key is inserted into the upper end of slide assembly 14 so that pin 52 on the shank engages slot 45 in plunger 23. The key is raised vertically, withdrawing the lower end of the plunger from engagement with slot 36 and engaging it with the upper surface of bar 13. The key may only be removed again when slot 36 receives the plunger.
