Abstract

1537410 Sliding pin latch HARTWELL CORP 13 July 1977 [26 Aug 1976 27 Oct 1976] 29432/77 Heading E2A A sliding pin latch comprises an axially reciprocable latch pin 35 slidable in a sleeve 30 between extended (Fig. 2) and retracted (Fig. 3) positions by means of pivotable handle 5 and trigger assembly 10. Connected to the latch pin is an overcentre biassing means, including spring 43 and levers 45, 48, urging the latch pin 35 into its extended position when the handle is in its closed position and urging the pin into its retracted position when the handle is in its open position. The trigger assembly 10 is movable between a first position (Fig. 2) in which the assembly secures the handle in its closed and flush position by means of hooks 16 and a second position in which the assembly secures the handle in a manually accessible position while the latch pin remains extended. The handle's accessible position is determined by the clearance between the pin 27 and the bore 26.
