In a door bolt assembly adapted to be let into a door to lie flush therewith and co-operate with a socket member in the door frame and of the kind comprising a barlike frame a with an angle-shaped extremity a<SP>1</SP> with which frame and extremity a bolt b is adapted to slidingly co-operate and be actuated by means of a lever or thumb bit c pivotally mounted in an opening a<SP>3</SP> of the frame, an inner extremity of the lever or bit being connected by linkage d tc the bolt under spring influence tc automatically secure. the bolt in the protruding or retracted positions, the spring influence is provided by a mechanism comprising two interengaging hollow cylinders, cups or the like g<SP>1</SP>, g2 incorporating a compression spring g such as an ordinary compression coiled or helical spring, the mechanism being introduced between an abutment b<SP>3</SP> on or carried by the sliding bolt and a part of the linkage d. As shown, hollow cylinders are used and these have convex ends which engage concavities in the abutment b3 and linkage d.
