Abstract

626,254. Latches. EREBUS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., GLOTHAM, A., and ABNETT, J. July 25, 1947, No. 20004. [Class 44] In a latch of the type in which the bolt is withdrawn by a follower acting through a lever, the lever is loaded by a torsion coil spring. The follower D is adapted when turned in one direction to displace a lever C pivotally mounted on a boss a and connected at C<SP>3</SP> to the bolt B. The coil spring F is fixed at one end f to the lever and at the other end f<SP>1</SP> to an abutment a<SP>1</SP> The follower contacts a lug b to retract the bolt when turned in the other direction. In another form the follower is arranged to displace a lever on rotation in either direction, the lever being spring loaded with a torsion coil spring.
