Abstract

616,756. Door latches. TURNER, S. C. Sept. 12, 1946, No. 27368. [Class 44] A latch comprises a case 1, a sliding bolt 4 urged outwardly by a spring 7, a bell-crank lever having one pair of arms 10 in contact with the latch bolt and the other 12 connected to a spindle 14. A handle 15 secured to the spindle 14 is arranged when pulled to open the door, the bell-crank lever being adapted to retract the bolt. The bell-crank lever is pivotally mounted on lugs 8 on the back coverplate 2 of the case and the arms 10 are camshaped and bear against a flange 5 on the rear of the bolt. The handle is returned to the inner position by the action of the spring 7.
