Abstract

537,775. Door-operating appliances. UNDERWOOD, C. J., O'BRIEN, F. B., O'BRIEN, C. A., and BARNETT, L. L. S. Aug. 26, 1940, No. 24327/39. [Class 65 (ii)] A door 24 of a motor car &c. is provided with two sets of hinges 25, 26 on two edges so that it may open about either edge. Hooks 27 on the door engage the hinge pins 28 on the body and are locked thereto by slidable pins 29 normally closing the mouths of the hooks, and adapted to be moved to release position by a central disc 30 through pivoted rods connected to 29. When the disc is turned clockwise, rods 31, 32 withdraw pins 29 from the hooks and release hinges 25, and when turned in an anti-clockwise direction, rods 36, 37 release hinges 26. Rod 33 operates a bolt engaging a keeper 35. A spring detent 38 holds the disc in adjusted position.
