Abstract

503,038. Stays for hinged articles. CROMPTON, T. Oct. 23, 1937, No. 28971. [Class 65 (i)] A stay for doors &c. comprises a bar 6 pivoted at 5 to the door 2 and sliding at its free end through slots 7a, 7b in a bracket 7 on the door frame 10. The end of the bar has two projections 6a, 6b one on each side of the slot 7b to lock the stay in the door-open position. The bar may be raised in the slots by a lever 12 pivoted on the bracket 7 and operated by means of a cord 4 to lift the lever against the bar 6 and disengage the projection 6b from locking position, so that the bar can slide through the slots during closing of the door. In another form, a bell-crank lever is pivoted to the cheek 7c of the bracket 7 with one limb extending horizontally under the bar 6, while the other limb depends vertically and is connected to the cord.
