Abstract
410,699. Double hinges. ROBERTS, F. W., 2, Belgrave Avenue, Wallasey, Cheshire. Dec. 5, 1933, No. 34098. [Class 65 (ii).] In a three-part hinge for a window sash in which the middle part of the hinge can be locked to the sash by a catch, the catch is of plate form, mounted on the sash to be operated from the opposite side of the sash to that to which the hinge is attached, and is displaceable in a plane at right angles to the plane of the window and to the hinge axes. Fig. 2 shows the application to a wooden sash, supported by a link 2 pivoted to a plate 1 fixed on the window frame and a plate 3 fixed on the sash. The link has a keeper part 9 for engagement with a catch 8 sliding horizontally in a recess in the sash frame and provided with a handle 7. A pivoted catch 15 is provided, with a lug to drop behind the handle 7 to hold the catch 8 in the locking position. The catch 8 may be spring - controlled. The device is equally applicable to metal-framed windows.
