[Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A hinged window, door, or the like 1 is so constructed that it is capable of being slidably drawn into close sealing contact with a surrounding frame 3 so as to provide a closure that serves to prevent the passage of gas or the like between the hinged member and the frame. The window sash 1 shown in Fig. 1, is provided with an inclined edge 2, which, in the closed position of the sash, bears against the inclined surface 4 of the frame 3. Each hinge comprises a member 7 secured to the sash, a pin 7a, and a member 8 which is formed as a right-angled extension of a flat-bar 9 slidably mounted in a guide constituted by a tray 11 secured to the frame 3. The bar 9, at the end adjacent the hinge pin 7a, passes through a slot 14 in the end wall of the tray, and at the other end a screw-threaded extension 10 on the bar passes through a hole 15 in the adjacent end wall of the tray. The bar 9 is of such a width as to fit closely in the tray. When the sash is to be used normally, the hinge pin 7a is in its outermost position, and the bar 9 is then retained with the hinge pin in this position by means of a wing-nut 16 on the extension 10 and a removable locating- piece 17 which.is clamped between the end of the bar 9 and the adjacent end wall of the tray. When the sash is to be pressed on to the frame, the piece 17 is removed and the wing- nut 16 tightened to draw the bar 9, hinge, and sash inwardly.
