Abstract

439,127. Sliding-window &c. fastenings and holders. SAID, A., 102, Shubra Street, Cairo, Egypt. June 21, 1934, No. 18306. [Class 44] [See also Group X] Relates to horizontally or vertically sliding windows, doors, or shutters, comprising a pair of sashes or the like which move simultaneously in opposite directions. According to the invention, the two sashes 12, 14, Fig. 4, carry perforated racks 1, 2, meshing with a spring-controlled toothed wheel 3 mounted in a casing 10, Figs. 1 and 3, the racks being provided with locking mechanism comprising a two-armed latch 7 centrally mounted on the pin 18 of the wheel 3. The latch is operated by a handle 8 projecting forwardly of the casing and is adapted simultaneously to engage with the perforations of the two racks. The spring 9 of the wheel 3 is stressed when the sashes are moved in one direction and thereby produces automatic movement of the sashes in the reverse direction upon the release of the latch 7. The racks are guided by rollers 6 mounted in the casing. A further pair of sashes 13, 15, may be provided, these sashes being connected to the sashes 12, 14, by pin-and-slot connections 16, 17.
