Abstract

270,213. Cushley, J. Feb. 3, 1927. Fastenings for sliding windows; locks, attaching; lockmechanism, tumbler-type and slidertype.-A sash lock operated by a key comprises a casing S secured to the lower sash 2 by concealed screws 10 and housing a bolt 14 adapted to engage one of the slots 7 in a bar 3 secured by concealed screws to the upper sash 1. The bolt 14, pivoted on a shaft 15, has an extension 17 adapted to be held by a pair of spring-pressed tumblers 18 after the bolt has been swung by its handle 28. The tumblers are disengaged by a key 26 engaging the ends 21 thereof. In a modification, Fig. 10, the swing bolt is replaced by a sliding bolt 33 operated by rack and quadrant 34, 35, and held in the locked position by sliders which are released by a key.
