Abstract

331,968. Jarman, J. A. May 1, 1929. Fastenings and holders for sliding windows. - Racks of corrugated metal strip 2, are let into recesses in the vertical members 1 of the sliding sashes and engaged by spring- pressed ball catches 3 secured in the fixed members 4 of the frame casing, within which are mounted locks 5 the bolts 6 of which, when shut, also engage the racks. The catches 3 retain the sashes against accidental movement and the bolts fasten the sashes in any position. The lock bolts are shot by spindles 7 the outer ends of which receive a suitable key inserted in apertures 8 in the frame members 9. The above devices may be provided at one or both sides of each sash.
