Abstract

925,550. Windows; window screens; window-operating mechanisms. YAT CHUEN YUEN. Nov. 2, 1960, No. 25700/62. Divided out of 925,549. Class 20 (3). A window, particularly for motor cars comprises a double-glazed sash or hollow pane open at the bottom, adapted to be raised and lowered manually or automatically by an electric motor 7 operating a toggle action 3 to slide in the window frame 1 and a heat-insulating panel 15 on to which the sash 2 may be lowered for the panel to enter through the open bottom and catch hooks 17 which automatically engage over studs 16 on the sash frame 14, so that the panel is raised with the sash frame into the closed position of the sash. When the sash is in the open position, the catch hooks 17 can be disengaged from the studs 16 by means of lever mechanism 22-24, the sliding base 22 on moving to the left causing its studs 23 to engage the tails 9, the catch hooks 17 to hold them out of the paths of the studs 16, and the sliding bar 22 may be held in this position by fixing the knob 26 of the operating lever 24. The panel 15 comprises two spaced sheets sealed together around their peripheries and the panel evacuated. One of the sheets 61 has a hollow boss 62, Fig. 5, with a conical counter bore 63 communicating through a hole 64 with the interior of the panel, and the bore is press-fitted with a plug 67 having an internal screw-thread 68 for co-operation with a tool for its removal from the boss when the panel is to be evacuated, the plug being normally closed by a plug 69. An alternative catchoperating mechanism is described (Fig. 3, not shown).
