Abstract
1,204,252. Windows; doors; gates; &c. MONSANTO CO. 27 Feb., 1968 [28 Feb., 1967 (2)], No. 9503/68. Heading E1J. A sealing device for two relatively slidable sashless panels 15 which are in the same plane, (Fig. 1) or overlap (Fig. 2 not shown) in the closed position, comprises a frame 31 for the panels 15 adapted to be secured in an aperture in a wall &c and a locking bar 11 having a portion 12 extending along an edge of the panel and a guide portion 11 projecting into a guide channel 33 provided by the frame 31, and a sealing foamed P.V.C. &c strip 14 disposed between the panels 15 and the portion 12 and operating means, such as the cam devices 41 in holes 17 and mounted on stems operated by knobs 43 on either end of the member 11, for moving the member 11 into the member 31 to compress the strip 14 by the glass 15 and form a seal. In a modification the transverse movement between the members 11 and 31 may be by screw means (Fig. 5). In the case of overlapping panes 15 the strip 14 is of appropriately stepped profile. Such an arrangement may be provided on all four sides of the window.
