Abstract

[Also in Division F4J The sash 2 e.g. of wood of a casement window assembly is hinged to an upright support member 5 by hinges 4 and the member 5 is slidably mounted in the main frame 1 being guided on the header 6 and sill 7 by interengaging guide means, the sill guide means being a mirror image of the header guide means which comprises a glider 15 e.g. of synthetic material secured by means of a T- profile strip 16 to the upper end of the member 5 to engage with a correspondingly profiled rail 14, e.g. of aluminium secured to the header 6. The strip 14 is formed with a recess in portion 17 to accommodate the thickened portion of a sealing strip 18 which makes contact with the member 5 in the closed position of the window. The portion 17 also forms a stop for the sash in its closed position. The strip 14 secured to the sill is used as a guide for the guide member 19 of the window adjusting stay. A resilient sealing strip 20 is mounted on the frame member 21 to seal between the frame member 21 and the member 5. Small panes or ventilation gates, which may be closable may be mounted in the member 5 (Fig. 1). The invention is equally applicable to horizontally pivoted sashes.
