Abstract

366,342. Ladders. PAYNE, A. F., 164, Bromsgrove Road, Redditch, Worcestershire. April 2, 1931, No. 9972. [Class 20 (ii).] A loft ladder 10 combined with a trap door 3 is mounted to slide in raised guides 7 secured to the door, the guides having counterbalance weights 9 at the upper end so as normally to retain the door in closed position.. A hinged extension 11 to the main ladder is adapted to fold beneath it, so that when the ladder is slidden on the guides this extension lies between the main ladder and the door. The ladder is retained in retracted position by sliding catches 14 or spring catches 17, Fig. 8, and the hinged extension is retained in open position by a spring catch 20, Fig. 9. The main ladder portion and the guides are provided with handrails 15, 16 respectively.
