Abstract

475,339. Stays; hinges. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP IJZERHANDEL I. M. DE VRIES, and VRIES, A. DE. Nov. 16, 1936, No. 28753 /35. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] A window stay comprises a rod 27 fixed at its ends to the window and a sleeve 39, slidable and rotatable on the rod and connected by a link 43 with a bracket 66 on the window frame, the rod 27 being formed with teeth 29 for engagement with complementary teeth 34, Fig. 6, inside the sleeve 39 to lock the window in any position. The sleeve 39 is rotated, to bring the teeth into or out of engagement, by a handle 46 fixed to the sleeve, a member 40 to which the link 43 is hinged being mounted on the sleeve, in a manner allowing rotation of the latter, between the hub of the handle 46 and a flange on the sleeve 39. In the form shown, the stay is applied to a casement sash carried by hinge members 25 engaging pins mounted in brackets 24 on the frame ; in a modification, for windows hinged at the upper edge, the stay 43 is formed of a pair of links, respectively above and below the bar 27, universally pivoted to the window, and the handle 46 also carries a hook which engages a keeper on the window in the closed position.
