Abstract

988,191. Windows; window operating mechanism. ELTREVA A.G. April 17, 1962 [April 17, 1961, No. 14747/62. Headings E1J and E2M. A casement window 11 arranged to open in the conventional manner and alternatively to open parallel to itself is mounted on at least three swivel arms 8 at least three corners of the window 11 in a frame 9 to be displaced parallel to itself relative to the frame and a locking bar 5 locks the window in the closed position by means of a pin 16 thereon locating in a notch 17 of a fitting 17a on the frame 9 and by means of a pin 6 on the frame 9 locating in the right hand end of the straight part of a slot 7 in one of the swivel arms 8, when the handle 2 is in one of its end positions. On part rotation of the handle 2 from that position the pin 16 leaves the notch 17 and the pin 6 travels towards the left hand end of the slot 7 as shown in Fig. 3. In this position, with the swivel arm 18 unlocked manually from the frame 1 at the catch 13, Fig. 4 the window can pivot conventionally about the pivot rod 14. On further rotation of the handle 2 the pin 6 moves into the curved part of slot 7 and causes the window to move parallel to itself on the three swivel arms, the catch 13 then locking the arm 18 to the frame 1. Such a window may be arranged adjacent to a sliding window in a frame common to both so that the sliding sash may be slid behind the casement window when in its parallel displaced position.
