[Classes 44, 65 (i), and 65 (ii).] A metal casement window, adapted to swing both inwards and outwards, is dismountably hinged along one edge 11, Figs. 1 and 6, carries a hinged draught-excluding flap 29, Fig. 2, along a second edge 14, and is adapted to abut with its remaining two edges 12, 13 against an L-shaped abutment member 40 which is mounted for diagonal movement within a housing 38, 39, of the fixed window frame. The movement of the member 40 is limited by pins 41, 42, 43 thereon engaging in diagonal slots 44, 45, 46 which are formed in the housing 38, 39. The member 40 is normally retained in the operative position by means of a pin 51 which engages in a further slot 52. This pin is connected by a chain 50 to an operating handle 49 for the member 40. The latter when fully raised, enables the window to swing either inwards or outwards, and when fully lowered is adapted to engage in two catches 19, 20 on the sash frame. A pivoted handle 18 engages with the member 40 to lock the sash in the closed position. An apertured stay 37 is pivoted to the lower edge of the sash and is adapted to engage with a pin 36 to lock the sash in any desired position. The pin is pivoted to a lug 34 on the window frame and swings downwards clear of the sash when the latter is swung inwards. The pivoted edge of the sash carries a tube 16 which, at its lower end, engages over a fixed conical pivot 53 on the window frame. An adjustable pivot pin 54 is slidably mounted in the upper end of the tube 16 and extends through an opening 55 in the window frame. The pin 54 can be secured in any position by a screw 56 extending therefrom through a slot 57 in the tube 16.
