421,787. Hinges; stays. BROWN, J. D., and MORRISON, R., 116, West Nile Street, Glasgow. Feb. 8, 1934, No. 19085. Divided out of 421,765. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] A window mounting adapted to hold the window closed or in any open position comprises plates fixed to the sash and frame, with pin-and-slot connection, and a link pivoted to both plates, one of the pivots having a springwasher. The device is shown applied to an upper sash opening about a horizontal axis, and comprises a plate 1 fixed to the edge of the frame and having a slot 7 in its lower part, a plate 2 fixed to the sash by a flange overlapping the face of the sash, this plate having at its lower end a pivot pin 6 which runs in the slot 7, and a link 8 pivoted to the upper ends of the plates 1 and 2, a spring washer being provided to introduce friction at the pivot connecting the link to the plate 2. As the sash is opened downwards, its pivot pin 6 travels up the slot 7 and the sash is supported by the friction of the lower pivot of the link. Specification 421,765 is referred to.
