Stays.-To the top of the frame of a window having one or more sashes 2 pivotally mounted about horizontal axes is hinged a slotted arm 15 adapted to be turned outwardly to engage a knuckle member 12 hinged to the top stile of the upper sash to hold the sash 2 in a partly open position, as shown in Fig. 1, the arm 15 being also adapted to turn inwards to abut against the stile of the upper sash and secure, it in the closed position, as shown in Fig. 2. The arm 15 may be held in the operative position, out of the path of the sash 2, by a weighted catch 17. When the sash is closed the arm 15 is held against the sash by a rotatable catch 18.
