Abstract
296,499. Vaughan, Ltd., H. & T., and Ramsell, H. G. June 17, 1927. Latches, sliding; striking-plates.-A fastening for motor vehicle doors comprises a nose or bolt a, fixed to one part and inclined on its sides and ends, which engages an open ended socket c in a member, fixed to the other part, and is retained in the socket c by a locking pin d which engages a hole c in the bolt. A tapered rib m on the socket-member engages a groove n in the bolt a to prevent longitudinal movement. The locking pin d is pressed forward by a spring q and retracted by a crank arm u mounted on the outside handle spindle v, the crank being extended to the outside of the lock casing for direct actuation by hand. A locking stop w with an actuating knob x outside the casing prevents the actuation of the crank arm u.
