Abstract

515,061. Latches. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd., and SMYE, A. May 21, 1938, Nos. 15232 and 22316. [Class 44] A motor car door latch has a wedge shaped socket d into which a wedge-piece 8 on the doorpost enters when the door is shut. The wedgepiece is bored to receive a conical bolt pin h which is carried by a plate g slidingly mounted and spring-pressed upwards within the latch case a. The plate g is depressed to release the pin h from the wedge-piece and is held in that position by a spring-pressed trigger 18 which passes over the projection 16. When the door is slammed, the end of the wedge-piece removes the trigger and the bolt-pin, h is released. The plate g is depressed by either an inside handle wand cam r or by an outside handle and cam s. If the handle w is moved forwardly, a projection 3 moves a lever x to bring a heel 4 in the path of the cam s and thereby the outside handle is locked from operation.
