Abstract

283,780. Marston & Co., Ltd., A., and Bryan, S. P. May 26, 1927. Knobs and handles attaching. - K n o b s of handles for doors, locks &c. are formed from short lengths of tube mounted on a spindle. As shown, a length b coaxial with the spindle to form a shank fits at one end into a recess in a rose plate c which abuts against a transverse pin f passed through the spindle e. At the other end tube b is formed to fit against, and has two tongues d which pass into, a transverse length oi tube a forming the handle proper. The parts are secured on the spindle by a wedge g. The ends of tube a may be closed by compression, as shown, to retain the wedge in place, or may be fitted with spherical or other closures abutting against the wedge. Fig. 5 shows a form for a two-handled lock in which the spindles are of flattened section so that when placed together they fit the usual hole in a follower k, the end of one spindle being cranked so that it is retained in place by the presence of the other straight spindle m. The left-hand knob is secured to the door by a rose plate n rotatably mounted between the shank b and a disc on the spindle abutting against a transverse pin.
