Abstract

Knobs.-Door knobs are made from casein or the like and are formed in two parts, which, with a stem or shank g, and rose, if one is required, are mounted on a metal sleeve. One part d of the knob is keyed to the sleeve a by means accessible before the two parts of the knob are assembled. The knob may be secured to the sleeve by slitting and bending out the end of the sleeve and screwing the bent parts to the inner face of the knob, a cover strip n of metal being preferably provided. In a modification a wooden core r fits into the rear part of the knob and is secured on the sleeve a by a pin or screw s passing through both. The outer part p of the knob is then cemented in place. The sleeve a has a flange b at its inner end. As shown in Fig. 1, a plate f may be secured between the two parts of the knob to avoid an unsightly joint.
