Latches, sliding; striking-plates.-In a vehicle door of the kind comprising an attachment plate a having a lever c pivoted thereto about the axis of an external handle, said lever being adapted to operate a spring-controlled slidable bolt f and to co-operate with a safety catch h mounted on the attachment plate, the safety catch is provided with a peg i which extends through the back or exterior of the lock casing and is angularly shaped at i<2> to receive the shaped portion of an operating lever j, this lever being located within the area of the main exterior body of the lock casing. The safety catch is engaged at one end by a spring, and its part h<3> is adapted to engage a notch c<3> of the lever c. The lever c is pivotally mounted by its connection with a circular washer l in a hole m in the attachment plate a. The bolt f engages a striking plate formed with a number of steps P, l<3> and l<4>.
