Abstract

1277571 Attaching door handles to spindles TAURUS HARDWARE Ltd 4 July 1969 [5 April 1968 30 Oct 1968] 16496/68 and 51476/68 Heading F2U [Also in Division E2] In a door handle assembly in which the latchoperated shaft 18 projects from one handle 12 and into a cavity 22 in the other handle 10, there is a spring 44 within the handle 10 acting in torsion and compression to return the handle and to retain the roses against the sides of the door. The ends of the shaft are located in a square hole 26 in the handle 12 and transverse bores 20 hold a locating pin 30, while the other end is bent over and moulded into the other handle 10. The handles carry roses 32, 34 with respect to which they are rotatable. A metal bearing surface 42 is provided on the boss 14 of handle 10, and this end is secured by a washer 56 and pin 62 and a circlip. The locating pin 30 moves in sector-shaped slots in the rose 34 to limit the handle movement. The roses are located by spigots entering bores in the sides of the door. Each rose has a cover-plate (92) secured by a key (100, Fig. 4, not shown) and a grub-screw (106, Fig. 3, not shown). In a modification (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) the shaft is screw-threaded to carry the handle 12 and a key-plate (30<SP>1</SP>) engages flats on the shaft which prevents unscrewing and acts to limit turning as does pin 30.
