Abstract

854,226. Locks. PARKES & SONS Ltd., J., BUTTER, F. J., and NEWMAN & SONS Ltd., W. Feb. 26, 1959 [March 6, 1958], No. 7178/58. Class 44. In a lock, particularly for use with "frameless" plate glass doors, the lock casing 10 is of box section and houses a dead bolt 14 which is pivotally mounted in the casing by a pin 16 carried in the sides of the casing, the head of the bolt 14 registering with an aperture 17 in the casing, the other end having a tail arm 18. The head of the bolt 14 is made to protrude through the casing aperture 17 by the action of protuberances 24, 25 of a shoe member 23 on opposed cam-like surfaces of the bolt, the shoe being actuated by movement of a runner plate 19 which, in turn, is moved by a single-bitted key inserted through the double-bitted key hole 21 in the casing. Security levers 20, pivoted at 27 in the casing and gated at 28, co-operate with a spigot 29 fixed on the runner plate 19, the levers having cam edges moved by the action of lever steps on the key bit.
