Class 44 In a lock incorporating a dead bolt 10 actuated by rotation of a key or key operated plug, a spring bolt or catch 25 is actuated by continued rotation of the key or key operated plug in the withdrawal direction after full withdrawal of the dead bolt, by means comprising a lever 30 having a fixed pivotal mounting 31 in the lock case 12 and carrying a pivoted rocker 34 for withdrawing the spring bolt or catch 25, the lever 30 being directly actuated by the dead bolt 10 during the final part of its withdrawal movement so as to bring an arm of the rocker 34 into the path of the key bit or of a thrower or radial arm 18 of the key-operated plug so that continued rotation thereof in the same direction turns the rocker about its pivoted axis 33 and causes another arm of the rocker to co-operate with an abutment 36 on the spring bolt or catch to withdraw it. The lever 30 has an abutment 32 which is engaged by the tail of the dead bolt during its withdrawing movement to pivot the lever 30 against the pressure of a spring 35. The dead bolt is operated from the outside of the door by the thrower 18 and a second plug 23, by which it may be operated from inside the door is provided; this plug does not operate the spring bolt and may be spaced from the first mentioned plug. as shown or arranged coaxially with it. The dead bolt may have conventional security mechanisms for locking it in its withdrawn or shot positions consisting of two spring loaded gated levers 19 which can engage a stump 20 on the bolt. The spring bolt can be withdrawn from inside the door by means of an integral knob 29.
