Abstract
657,999. Opposed-piston two-stroke engines. POUNDER, C. C., and REBBECK, Sir F. E. June 23, 1949, No. 16677. [Class 7(ii)] In a single-acting trunk-piston engine, side rods 10, 11 and 12, 13, arranged in pairs on opposite sides of the or each cylinder are attached to the yoke 7 of a piston 6 controlling exhaust ports 22, and are connected through crossheads 14, 15 to connecting rods 16, 17 driving secondary cranks 18, 19. The main piston 1, which is connected to the crankshaft 3 through a connecting rod 2, controls the scavenge air ports 21 and may be of a diameter different from piston 6.
