647,514. Cylinders. POBJOY, E. E., (Representative of POBJOY, D. R.). March 1, 1948, No. 6384. [Classes 7(ii) and 7(iii)] An un-cooled insert 7 of heat-resistant material e.g. iron or steel, containing a valve seat, is screwed into an air-cooled cylinder head 4 of good heat-conducting material, e.g. a copper alloy such as aluminium bronze. The insert which has substantially less thickness than the finned head, carries an exhaust valve 3 in the twostroke oil engine shown, a hole 10 being provided for the fuel injector.
