Abstract

657,231. Cylinders. PIATTI, V. Feb. 23, 1949, No. 4924. [Class 7(ii)] An internal combustion engine cylinder comprises a finned heat-dissipating body 2<SP>1</SP> which is cast in situ around a ferrous body 1<SP>1</SP> and is of a metal of higher thermal conductivity than the body 1<SP>1</SP>, ports 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> and conduits 5<SP>1</SP> for canalizing the gas flow through the cylinder being formed in the body 1<SP>1</SP> such that the gas is rendered inaccessible to body 2<SP>1</SP> and infiltration of gas between the body contact surfaces is prevented. The body 1<SP>1</SP> may have flanges 6<SP>1</SP>, 71 for attachment of the cylinder head and crankcase respectively.
