[Class 60] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIV] A portable rotary filing, milling and grinding machine has an infinitely-variable speed control which is adapted to regulate the speeds of three flexible shafts between 1000 and 4800 r.p.m. by means of an indicator 29 connected to the speed control and co-operating with a calibrated scale. The machine is mounted on a pedestal and has an electric motor 2 for rotating three shafts 11, 17, 20 which are connected to the flexible shafts carrying the tools. The shaft 11 drives a rotary filing or milling tool, and the shafts 17, 20 drive grinding tools. A tapered roller 4 on the motor shaft rotates a similar roller 10 on the shaft 11 through a friction-wheel 6 having a rubber tyre 5, the wheel 6 being adjustable axially by means of a screw 8 engaging a nut 7 on which the wheel is mounted. The shaft 17 is driven from the shaft 11 through pulleys 12, 18 and a belt 14 which is tensioned by a spring 19. A similar drive is provided between the shafts 17, 20.
