673,454. Sanding and polishing. NASH CO., J. M. June 27, 1950 [March 27, 1950], No. 16052/50. Divided out of 673,428. Class 60. A sanding and polishing machine comprises an endless abrasive belt 1A, a swinging arm 5 adjustable about a vertical spindle 27 at one end, a roller 1 for driving the endless belt, and mounted by bearings on a spindle 4 fixed to the outer end of the swinging arm, one or more belts 44 for driving the roller from a pulley 45 mounted adjacent to the spindle 27, and means for adjusting the swinging arm so as to tension the belt 1A. The machine, which is constructed as described in Specification 673,453, is provided with a pneumatic cylinder 49 for adjusting the arm 5, and one or more belts 57 for driving the pulley 45 from a motor 40 are tightened by adjusting the motor along its supporting guides 37.
