Abstract
718,334. Wood-working machines: grinding. HAVRE, A. M. Sept. 12, 1952, [Sept. 22, 1951.] No. 22969/52. Classes 60 and 145 (2). A combination wood-working machine comprises a band saw 7 passing over three or more pulleys, two or which, 6 and 8, are arranged in a vertical plane, a pair of abrasive discs, a chuck 13 and a circular saw 16. A hollow arm 3, preferably integral with a work table 2, and a housing 4 enclose part of the band saw. The driving pulley 9, which is driven directly from an electric motor, has its outer face 20 and part of the periphery covered with abrasive and an inclinable table 21 pivoted on a fitting 21a is provided. An intermediate shaft 11 fitted below the table is driven by a belt from the motor shaft and is fitted with the chuck 13 at one end and an abrasive disc at the other end. The circular saw 16, driven by a belt 17, is carried by two arms 15 pivoted on the intermediate shaft 11 and can be locked in a position either below the table 2 or protruding above it. A handwheel 5 adjusts the pulley 6 to vary the band saw tension or to interrupt its drive and a tensioner (not shown) on the belt 17 may be used to interrupt the drive to the saw 16.
